The Languedoc is one of France’s best-kept secrets — and increasingly, it is becoming less of one. Wedged between the Pyrenees and the Rhône, the Mediterranean coast and the Massif Central, this is a region of extraordinary variety: medieval villages perched above vineyards, wide sandy beaches with none of the crowds of the Côte d’Azur, Roman aqueducts standing intact after two thousand years, and a pace of life that reminds you what relaxation is actually supposed to feel like.
Languedoc Retreats was founded by people who fell in love with this region and decided to make it easier for others to experience it properly. We are a specialist property rental agency offering a carefully curated selection of holiday homes and longer-stay rentals across the Languedoc — from the garrigue-covered hills of the Hérault to the canal-threaded plains of the Aude, from the foothills of the Cévennes to the shores of the Étang de Thau.
Our portfolio is deliberately selective. We do not list every available property — we list the ones worth staying in. Stone farmhouses with original features and modern kitchens. Village houses with courtyard gardens and rooftop terraces. Vineyard properties where you wake up surrounded by vines and fall asleep to silence. Every property in our collection has been personally inspected and meets our own standards for comfort, character, and location.
We specialise in both short holiday lets and longer stays of one month or more — for those who want to experience the Languedoc as a resident rather than a tourist. Many of our guests return year after year. Some eventually decide to look for a property of their own, and we are happy to connect them with the right local contacts when that happens.
Our team is bilingual and split between the UK and the Languedoc itself, which means we combine the practical support guests need before and during their stay with genuine, on-the-ground knowledge of the region. We know where to eat, what to visit, which markets are worth the drive, and which roads to avoid in August.
If you are looking for a holiday in the south of France that feels nothing like a package holiday, Languedoc Retreats is where that search begins.
